What matters most to seniors? Shelley Lyford, president and chief executive officer of the West Health Institute recently sat down with healthcare leaders across the country to discuss topics related to seniors and successful aging, starting with Carol Raphael, board chair of AARP and former president and CEO of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York. While speaking with Lyford, Raphael offered her own thoughts on what matters most to seniors and discussed what it means to successfully age.
“There’s no doubt about it – seniors really want to remain in their homes, as independent as possible,” Raphael said. “People are not defined, nor are they limited by, their age. People should be able to live their lives with dignity and purpose, and really chart the direction that they want to take their lives.”
